Some students have a way of leaving an indelible mark on your heart, and Toma is undoubtedly one of those special souls. I can still vividly recall the very first day I began tutoring her. She was just a shy, adorable Year 3 student with those inquisitive eyes that seemed to pierce right through me.

Toma’s journey was a unique one, filled with challenges and triumphs. At the outset, she grappled with understanding various concepts and needed a considerable boost in her confidence, particularly when it came to maths.

Our journey together was a rollercoaster, filled with all the emotions one could imagine. We shared tears of frustration, moments of hearty laughter, and even the occasional forgotten homework (some of which had a talent for hiding under her bed). Our sessions often included heated debates, as Toma was not one to back down easily.

However, Toma’s tenacity was unwavering. She proved herself to be a true fighter, continually pushing herself to learn and improve. Her progress in both Maths and English was nothing short of remarkable. By the time she reached Year 6, she had blossomed into a confident, resilient, and independent young lady, surpassing all expectations for her age.

As Toma moved on to her secondary school journey, I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride and joy. She was well on her way to achieving her dreams and becoming the incredible person she was meant to be.

Now, a new chapter in my tutoring journey has begun, with Toma’s cheeky little brother, full of chatter and enthusiasm. As we embark on this fresh adventure, I can’t help but wonder where it will lead us. I look forward to supporting him in his educational voyage, hoping to witness another remarkable success story in the making.
